Colonnella

Not far from the right bank of the Tronto river, the ancient village of Colonnella rises gently perched on a hill, in a splendid panoramic position with a view that sweeps from the Gran Sasso to the Sibillini Mountains and as far as the sea. The town has charming little squares and narrow streets, known as ‘rue’, with characteristic corners and interesting monuments that recall part of its long history of 1300 years. A long flight of steps, built in the early 20th century, leads to Piazza del Popolo and the historic centre of the delightful town, dominated by a church and a clock tower.
