Teramo

An important historical and cultural centre, Teramo is located in the northernmost part of the region in a hilly area where the Tordino river and the Vezzola torrent meet, so much so that the Romans called it ‘Interamnia Urbs’, that is, ‘the city between the two rivers’. Visiting the historic centre of Teramo means taking a long journey through time to discover the peoples and cultures that have made the history of this area, while all around the city there are itineraries and routes immersed in greenery. A visit to the imposing Castello della Monica, the main building in the medieval town of Teramo, is a must. It is a complex of 19th-century palaces built on the San Venanzio hill, through a fusion in a single structure of different styles architectural and artistic.
