Martinsicuro Antiquarium at the Tower of Charles V

In the heart of Martinsicuro, near the sea, the Tower of Charles V stands tall like an ancient guardian of time. Built in 1547 during the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, at the behest of Emperor Charles V, it had a strategic function: to defend the coast from Saracen pirates and to guard the border between the Kingdom of Naples to the south and the Papal States to the north.

Also known as the Tower of Martinsicuro, it stands out from the other coastal towers in Abruzzo due to its structure, which is more reminiscent of those in the Marche, Lazio and Campania regions. Today, completely restored, it is one of the most important and representative monuments of the city, so much so that it has acquired its name.

Antiquarium of Castrum Truentinum

Inside the tower is the Antiquarium of Martinsicuro, a museum that tells the story of the area and the ancient Castrum Truentinum, with archaeological finds and explanatory panels. In summer, it hosts exhibitions, cultural events, workshops for children and theatrical tours in costume.
