Martinsicuro’s coastal biotope extends along a large area of free beach, representing one of the few places where the dune area can evolve naturally. In addition to constituting an effective protection against coastal erosion, the area represents an important example of reconstructed habitat in the region.<\/p>\n

The biotope is home to rare flora and fauna species threatened with extinction, including as many as 40 indigenous and spontaneous botanical species of considerable natural interest. The presence of naturally developed dunes protects psammophilous plants, species that love sand and are able to survive in an arid, salt-rich environment.<\/p>\n

Martinsicuro’s biotope is an ideal place to admire various animal species, including the Fratino, a small, endangered wading bird that habitually nests on the beaches. Since 1987, the European of the Environment, this stretch of beach has been classified as a biotope by the Italian Botanical Society.<\/p>\n

Immergiti nel verde<\/h3>

Il biotopo costiero di Martinsicuro si estende lungo un\u2019ampia zona di spiaggia libera, rappresentando uno dei pochi luoghi in cui l\u2019area dunale pu\u00f2 evolversi in maniera naturale. Oltre a costituire un\u2019efficace protezione contro l\u2019erosione costiera, l\u2019area rappresenta un importante esempio di habitat ricostruito nella Regione.<\/p>

Il biotopo custodisce rare specie floristiche e faunistiche che rischiano l\u2019estinzione, tra cui ben 40 specie botaniche autoctone e spontanee di notevole interesse naturalistico. La presenza delle dune sviluppate in maniera naturale protegge le piante psammofile, ovvero le specie che amano la sabbia e che riescono a sopravvivere in un ambiente arido e ricco di salsedine.<\/p>

Il biotopo di Martinsicuro rappresenta il luogo ideale per ammirare diverse specie animali, tra cui il Fratino, un piccolo uccello limicolo in pericolo, che nidifica abitualmente sulle spiagge. A partire dal 1987, anno Europeo dell\u2019Ambiente, questo tratto di spiaggia \u00e8 stato classificato biotopo dalla Societ\u00e0 Botanica Italiana.<\/p>
